My first "amigurumi" project! I made this cat for my mom's birthday present(Dec 20). It's made to resemble her real cat. I was surprised by how quick the pieces were to make. The hardest part was putting everything together. Ravelry Project.
Thanks to everyone who answered my questions about finishing and faces! I went with embroidering with embroidery floss.

This little sleepyhead just won't stand still & keeps falling!

However, her name is Sleepy Sarah, so I guess that fits. I made her by this pattern, but changed colors & made a small red pompon too. If you ever want to make one too, keep in mind that her body must be stuffed more heavily than head, or the doll won't stand, much like mine.

Here's projects from my table in the comic-con art show and a present I made for a neighbor kid.

i've heard that you can combine a stand of fuzzy yarn with a worsted weight yarn to add more bulk to fuzzy projects. how well does this work? has anyone tried it? does it make the "fuzzy" too sparse on the finshed project?
i'm working on designing my first ami pattern. i was wondering if anyone had any tips for this?
i've crocheting amis from existing patterns before.

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if any one has a pattern for a hoop. I want to make a Christmas wreath and I've looked at some patterns on the net but they aren't what I'm looking for. Even if it isn't a wreath pattern, it's the hoop bit I'm having trouble finding. Ideally I want it big-ish.
Thanks in advance x x

Made a chibi-totoro using this pattern. I've changed feet a bit though 'cause they seemed a bit small to me.

The shamrock was made by this pattern, but I've made 4 petals instead of 3 and no handle... or stem, whatever it's called :-D

I was going through my wool draw the other day and I found one of my half finished projects. I still have to finish her off but I thought I'd show you all anyway.

I've been trying to decide what to make my 2 best friends this year. It suddenly came to me; One's favorite animal is a tiger, the other a lion, & mine a bear.
So I wanna make a lion, tiger, and bear that look like they go together. We all live in different places, so it's gonna be like, every time you look at your animal, you can think of the other 2.
I went on Lion Brand's site & found a pattern for a bear and a lion that obviously go together... but no luck with the tiger.
I've just started crocheting recently, so I don't feel comfortable enough to just make my own tiger in that fashion.
So, has anyone come across a lion, tiger, and bear that look like a set? Or has anyone made a tiger in the fashion linked above?
Any help is SUPER appreciated! Thankss!

It's already past St. Nicholas' day - and we all know what that means: presents. So with great vigor some of my friends participated in a gift-exchange, me included. From a safe source I gathered that my recipient was a great admirer of the little mole named Krtek when he was oh-so-young. So a plushie of that he got - especially if I had to freehand it myself. :D

My newest amigurumi, Shinubi, the lonely Shinobi (Ninja).
He is a prototype for my next projects, no wonder he is lonely, just like Adam before there were Eve :D
I made him in sitting pose, with semi- poseable hands. I planned on to put him on my new desk at the studio :D (YaY! I got a new desk!)
I don't have wire so I made the poseable hands based on Teddy bear doll tutorial (felt doll book), but it doesn't work like how I wanted :(
I don't have small beads for the eyes so I'm using big sequins, but I think it turn out cute as if He use black glasses :D
there's more stories about him on my blog, and more pictures of him on my flickr
see ya!
Last night I made all the pieces for my first plush/amigurumi animal and now I need to put it all together.
I've googled and searched around but I didn't see any really helpful information.
Most faces are at least partly embroidered it seems. I did learn to embroider "properly" as a child by making a burp cloth for my new cousin which I never finished(He's 16 now.) so in theory I know the basics, but there are some particulars I'm not sure about.
Do you embroider with embroidery floss or with yarn?
Do you use a yarn needle like the one you put the body parts together with, or an embroidery needle?
Do you put your needle through the holes in the crochet? between the stitches? just between the pieces of yarn? Or do you stick your needle through a piece of yarn?
These mysteries and any other tips would be much appreciated!
